Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician with strong hands-on experience in mechanical equipment repair and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will specialize in maintaining and repairing multi-spindle screw machines (e.g., Acme, Euroturn, Davenport, or similar legacy multi-spindle automatics and CNC equipment, ensuring optimal performance, reducing breakdowns, and supporting continuous production.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and lubrication on industrial machinery, with a primary focus on multi-spindle screw machines.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues; troubleshoot faults to minimize downtime.
- Repair, rebuild, or replace components such as spindles, gears, bearings, cams, collets, feed mechanisms, tooling attachments, and drive systems on multi-spindle equipment.
- Disassemble, inspect, repair, reassemble, align, and test machines after repairs or overhauls.
- Rebuild machine attachments (e.g., thread rollers, die heads, slotters) as needed during maintenance.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns quickly and safely to restore production.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with production operators and supervisors to identify recurring issues and recommend improvements.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies.
- Assist with installation of new equipment or upgrades when required.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; technical/vocational training in industrial maintenance, machining, or mechanics preferred.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in equipment repair and maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience repairing and maintaining manufacturing equipment (strongly preferred; experience with Acme-Gridley, Euroturn, Davenport models is a major plus).
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of gears, bearings, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency with hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond effectively under pressure.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs.
- Familiarity with CNC or automatic lathes/turning machines as a secondary skill.
- Certifications in industrial maintenance, OSHA safety, or related fields.
- Welding, fabrication, or machining skills.

Overview

Duties
- Set up and operate Acme-Gridley multi-spindle screw machines ensuring optimal performance for each production run
- Troubleshoot multi-spindle screw machines; interpret blueprints and CAD drawings to ensure accurate machining processes
- Conduct quality control inspections using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other gauges to verify dimensions against GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications
- Maintain safety standards by utilizing hand tools and adhering to factory safety protocols during setup and operation
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery and tools to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production flow
Experience
- Proven factory experience working with multi-spindle screw machining equipment or similar manufacturing machinery. Euroturn and Davenport experience is a plus.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of multi-spindle screw machines, and blueprint reading.
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers for quality assurance purposes
- Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints accurately; understanding of GD&T principles is highly desirable
- Capable of working with hand tools, fabrication equipment, welding tools, and tooling setups in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations during setup and quality checks
